$300,000 for a person injured in a motor vehicle accident. The plaintiff was operating a vehicle when he was rear-ended by the defendant’s vehicle. The plaintiff suffered lower back injuries. He eventually underwent surgery. The insurance carrier for the responsible party had an insurance limit of $25,0000, which was tendered to the plaintiff. We then brought an underinsured claim against the plaintiff’s auto insurance policy for an additional $275,000. They refused to pay that amount voluntarily. Arbitration was held. The hearing officer awarded our client the full limit of the policy, an additional $275,000. Furthermore, the hearing officer commented in his decision that the plaintiff’s injuries exceeded the policy limits and awarded arbitration fees as well.
